Fees & appointments
The Australian Psychological Society recommended hourly fee for psychologists in 2010-2011 is $212 per consultation hour. Our fees are $180 per consultation hour.A proportion of these fees may be redeemable from your private health insurance, depending on your health plan. You may also be eligible to claim a proportion of your fees from Medicare, if you have a referral and a "care plan" from your doctor, and your doctor has assessed you to be suffering from a condition that is rebatable by Medicare.
Appointments are typically 50-60 minutes long. The initial appointment is longer, usually an hour and a half, to allow plenty of time to gain a detailed understanding of you and your needs. A thorough initial consultation is important, to ensure that subsequent sessions are relevant and helpful to you. This initial session is the same charge as a standard 50-60 minute consultation.
